Kapuka is a modern, contemporary and approachable wine named after the New Zealand native evergreen tree which grows throughout the wetlands neighbouring Kapuka’s Rarangi vineyard site in Marlborough. Bodegas Protos, from the Greek word for “First”, is proud to be the first winery in Ribera del Duero, founded in 1927. Year after year its wines boast the highest quality, personality and prestige. Protos Verdejo is made from 100 % Verdejo, a Rueda typical variety. The grapes come from vineyards planted on south‑facing slopes, with the intention of taking advantage of sunshine, necessary for the optimal ripening of the grapes. Straw yellow in colour with aromas of tropical fruit and ripe citrus touches. Fleshy and silky on the palate with a high concentration of fruit. Unearth a new discovery: the Godello grape. Galician wines are the next big thing to come from the northwest of Spain. If you like a crisp Chablis with mineral and elegant flavours then give this wine a go. This grape mimics that flinty and pure Chablis style, but it’s just a change from the norm. This particular wine is made from old, high‑quality vines of a Galician native variety. Viña Salceda Crianza, La Rioja, Spain

A wine from La Rioja, located in El Ciego, with a great wine‑making tradition in La Rioja Alavesa. Harvested only by traditional methods – the land is tilled instead of using herbicides, and both pruning and harvesting are done by hand. This wine is a blend of Tempranillo (95 %) with a touch of Mazuelo and Graciano (5 %). Full, fresh, vibrant and balanced. The dominant black fruits are in harmony with hints of spice from 12 months spent in American oak barrels. Don David Malbec Reserve, Argentina

Gold medal award‑winning wine produced in one of the highest vineyards in the world (standing at 5,500 feet above sea level) which gets 350 days of sunshine. Well made with good balance, this is a very good example of Argentine Malbec.

This 100 % Garnacha is from Aragón, close to Zaragoza and south‑east of the La Rioja wine region. It is an elegant & complex red, with a vivid colour. The wine has an intense aroma of dark cherries, plums, blackberries, sweet liquorice, spices and cooked fruit. On the palate you’ll find dark cherries and plums combined with barrel and earthy notes. The wine has good balance, round tannins and a long aftertaste. It’s juicy, fruity and a nice everyday drinker!

Puente de Rus, Tempranillo, La Mancha, Spain

From the slightly warmer climate of La Mancha, this wine is brimming with lots of juicy blueberry fruit with a lovely dusting of cracked black pepper on the finish. Spain’s newest wine classification – Roble – is a smooth, medium‑bodied & fruity wine made from Tempranillo grapes. It’s more digestible and fresher than many other Crianza or Reserva wines, made from a selection of younger vines that the winery selects while briefly maturing in French & American oak (three months) and then bottle‑aged to finish.
